Richard’s Story

Richard and his wife moved their family back to Johnstown (her hometown) to provide a better life for their children. “We wanted a school system that was on par with their capabilities,” he says.

But finding work has been difficult. “It’s really unfortunate to have the education and not be able to find a position,” Richard says.

“Trying to adjust our finances has been really challenging. We’ve also had some unexpected medical expenses. Our only source of income right now is my wife’s work, and it just doesn’t pay all our bills.”

Richard and his children come to the Food Bank’s Produce
to People distribution to get fresh fruits and vegetables.

“When you get to the grocery store, the produce is really expensive. What we get here helps us eat healthier meals.”
