In this new program, volunteers use their personal vehicles to pick up boxes of food from our Duquesne, PA warehouse to deliver directly to community member’s doorstep. In this contactless volunteer opportunity, individuals will utilize a mobile phone app to follow a route of 6 – 10 houses that are all within a practical driving distance from one another. This program helps serve some of our community’s most vulnerable population and is essential in our mission to provide greater access to food for all in need.
This volunteer opportunity can be done by an individual, or with two people to a car. Doorstep Delivery is also a great opportunity to involve children who may not meet our age requirements for our alternative volunteer activities. For the safety and security of the individuals and families we serve, all Doorstep volunteers must complete free background check clearances and a Motor Vehicle Records Check authorization form provided by the Food Bank to participate. Individuals are able to volunteer for up to 30 days as a Doorstep Delivery driver before the clearances are due. Volunteers are required to wear masks to participate.
