AN UPDATE ON FOOD DRIVES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC:
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank continues to monitor the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. As we do, we are working around the clock to strategize new and modified food distribution and acquisition methods that adhere to social distancing best practices and ensure public safety.
What does this mean for our Food Drive Donors?
We are not accepting food drive donations at this time. Every food drive donation that comes through our doors requires a volunteer to sort, organize and repack. Since we have had to close our repack center to volunteers and are putting all our resources into packing emergency boxes, we are requesting monetary donations in lieu of food donations at this time. We also don’t want to encourage you to go to the stores for product donations. Monetary donations will allow the Food Bank to purchase food in large quantities directly from manufacturers, reduce physical contact and quickly re-distribute to those in need.
Thanks again for your care and concern for our neighbors in need! And remember that every $1 donated to the Food Bank can provide enough food for up to 5 meals for our community. Donations can be made at pittsburghfoodbank.org/donate or mail a donation to 1 N Linden St, Duquesne, PA 15110.
Mobilize your friends and family through a Virtual Food Drive! Peer to Peer fundraising on social media is powerful. Help get your network involved through a Facebook or GoFundMe Charity Campaign.
