Did you know that we have amazing people running for us in the Pittsburgh Marathon? We do! To get everyone motivated in the final days leading up to the race on May 3, we would like to share some of our runners’ stories.
If you are a runner, you will relate to each story. But even if you aren’t, these dedicated folks will inspire you. Who knows, maybe you will run on our behalf in next year’s race!
This is the fourth in a series of daily runner stories featured on the blog all this week – leading up to the race on Sunday!
How long have you been running?
How many years have you been running for the Food Bank in the Pittsburgh Marathon?
First time running for the Food Bank.
What motivates you to run?
Running is my therapy, I absolutely love the feeling of being outside and running through the Pittsburgh neighborhoods. It gives me a chance to think and clear my head. I love the feeling after I run and I know that it is making me a healthier person.
Why have you decided to run for the Food Bank?
I have run a ton of races, and this year I decided I wanted to run for a reason. It was a tough choice with all of the great organizations to participate with through the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, but I chose the Food Bank. I am super passionate about food, I love to cook and go out to eat, but I couldn’t imagine the thought of having food insecurity. I want to help out the community and try to make sure that everyone in Pittsburgh is able to enjoy food and have the ability to eat nourishing and healthy meals.
