The President has released his budget proposal. It recommends taking millions of meals away from our neighbors at risk of hunger. If Congress approves the President’s budget, there’s one guaranteed outcome: at least 4.5 billion fewer meals would be available to families facing hunger every year.
The next step is for Congress to debate the President’s proposal. Send a message to your members of Congress today. Tell them to put a stop to this outrageous budget that takes food away from families struggling to put food on their tables.
We live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. There’s no reason to force people to choose between feeding their families and paying for their electricity bill, medications or housing. Americans pull together to help our neighbors when they’re in need. It’s who we are.
Charity alone simply cannot end hunger in America. Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the people we serve rely upon government programs to help us. That’s why advocates like you are important. When you speak out to protect government food assistance programs, you’re helping millions of Americans at risk of hunger.
We will continue to provide updates on the budget process and reach out to you to ask you to tell your members of Congress why food assistance programs are so important. Thank you for all that you do. We appreciate your support.
