The Food Security Partnership Assistant will provide project and administrative support to the Director and staff of the Food Security Partnership Team.  The Team works with multiple community partners throughout Southwestern PA to increase participation in food security programs such as SNAP, School Breakfast, and the Summer Food Service Program, and to facilitate collaborations with partners in the employment and housing fields. The Assistant will play an important role in gathering materials and information for staff to be prepared for community events and in collecting information from community organizations to inform and evaluate our efforts. He/she works as a member of a team to achieve the goals of the Food Security Partnership Team and the strategic plan of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Job Responsibilities

  • Gather information for various programs and projects and organize it in ways that are helpful for staff and community partners
  • Schedule meetings between Food Security Partnership staff and community partners
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets
  • Assist with collecting program evaluation information from community partners
  • Maintain inventory of documents and supplies for Food Security Partnership programs and photocopy materials as needed
  • Conduct phone calls to community partners to gather and distribute information
  • Respond to requests for information
  • Provide administrative support to staff for Food Security Partnership pilot projects
  • Assemble materials, supplies, and packets for staff attending outreach events
  • Represent the Food Bank, as needed, at community meetings
  • Communicate across multiple departments within the Food Bank
  • Occasionally assist clients with completing applications for SNAP benefits
  • Occasionally assist Government Affairs staff with compiling packets and supplies for events
  • Additional responsibilities as determined by the Director of Food Security Partnership

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and telephone skills are required
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Results-orientated and the ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks
  • Possess an attitude of collaboration for working with community organizations
  • High quality customer service skills (exhibit objectivity, calmness, persistence and helpfulness)
  • Ability to work with people from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Automobile and valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license are required
