Pat is from the College Hill area of Beaver Falls and attended her first drive-up food distribution in November. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she has adjusted her lifestyle to keep herself safe.
“I don’t go very far. I just go to the appointments I have to go to and I go to the store for when I need something and grocery stores. I haven’t really been shopping. I stay home, I’m on the computer and TV, and I just don’t go around and visit a lot of people. I just don’t want to,” Pat said. “I don’t want to be near too many people. I’m debating Thanksgiving because my family’s big.”
Pat has never been to a food pantry before and food assistance is new to her within the past year. She says what she receives from the Food Bank is helpful to her.
“When you’re raised with 11 kids, you can eat anything practically. All of the food has been good and I enjoy it. I find ways to fix things that you’d never think of. Little extra spices, a little extra sauces and salsas and things,” she said.
Pat is grateful for the Food Bank’s distributions and is thankful for the volunteers who allow her to fill her cupboards.
