Official Public Response Regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus)
The Food Bank is continuously monitoring ongoing developments in our region as it pertains to COVID-19 (coronavirus). An internal Contingency Planning Team has been assembled to monitor the evolving situation on a daily basis. We are adhering to all recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Allegheny County Health Department.
We are working closely with our community partners to identify who is in need of food and ensuring those people who are will have access to it. As of right now, our mission critical operations are continuing as normal. We are working to identify if and how those operations could change to best serve our community. We are working to inform our guests about safe hygiene practices and supplying more hand sanitizer, wipes, and other products at the Food Bank. We are committed to providing a safe environment for our staff, volunteers, and those we serve. This is an absolute priority.
As we continue our core mission services, cash donations are requested over any product donations at this time. If people would like to make a donation to the Food Bank, the best way for them to do that is to visit our website at www.pittsburghfoodbank.org. Furthermore, there may be a need for additional volunteers in the coming weeks. We’ll be sure to pass that information along if that need arises.
In these uncertain times, the Food Bank is committed to continuing our nearly 40-year mission of feeding people in need and mobilizing our community to eliminate hunger. We are firmly embedded in the 11 counties we serve in southwestern Pennsylvania—many of them rural with limited access to food.
We recommend that our partners, friends, and those we serve also follow the CDC’s recommended guidelines to limit the potential spread of disease. You can find those guidelines here: CDC Steps to Prevent Coronavirus Illness.
We will closely follow this situation as it continues to unfold and will provide any needed updates in the coming days and weeks. Thank you for your continued support of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Hello Tiffany,
At this time, we are currently unable to deliver food and are working to find ways to distribute food to people who are not able to leave their homes. Please contact your local pantry to see if they are able to make home deliveries. If you need help finding your local pantry and contact information, please follow this link and enter your zip code: https://pittsburghfoodbank.org/get-help/locator/.
Looking to assist un our mt. Washington community, or any others I can help in. I thought perhaps, if a needs list was offered into each resident door with a return of forms date to a block street embassador, such as myself, and then we can deliver boxes to the porches…no contact with people directly? I am willing to help. Thanks!
Me and my elderly neighbor are wondering if there is a way to have our food delivered? My neighbor Ms. Donna George is an elderly woman with cancer and cannot under any circumstances leave her apartment due to her illness. I have been watching over her through this rough ordeal and we would like to know if our food can be delivered? Please respond back so I can know what other steps we can take. Thank You.
Hello, at this time the Food Bank is unable to accommodate home delivery. She can check to see if she qualifies for assistance from a food pantry by clicking on the Get Help tab if at the top of the page.

As these times are hard for everyone. The drive up distribution help people. What about people who cannot get out or cannot get transportation. You guys are giving to people who have more access then others. Love all that you do. But it’s not fair.
