KD Turkey Fund Drive
KDKA-TV, National City and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank have teamed up once again for the 27th annual KD Turkey Fund Drive . This fundraising effort provides Thanksgiving turkeys to more than 45,000 needy families in the KDKA viewing area each year.
History of the KD Turkey Fund:
In the fall of 1982 a woman approached KDKA-TV personality Al Julius with a check for $10 and said, "Please see that a hungry family gets a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner." Twenty-six years and more than ten million dollars later, the KD Turkey Fund is going strong with KDKA-TV's Yvonne Zanos as spokesperson.
